Hilo Bike Hub Statement on E-bicycles In the E-bike world, torque
(rotational force) is measured in newton-meters, while power is measured in
watts. Torque is what is most important due to our island environment-going up hills.
And since we are either going uphill or downhill, torque is the most relevant
feature. Most e-bikes have around 50 to 60 nm (newton meters) of torque, while
others deliver 80-85 nm of torque. The more newton meters of torque your motor
can produce, the less hard your legs have to work to turn the pedals on your
bike.
Furthermore, We have
chosen the most durable, product tested e-bikes on the planet. Between
Cannondale, Trek and Specialized bicycle companies, These three brands have a
combined over 120 years of manufacturing experience. Yes, you do pay more for
this experience, however you will own a significantly safer, more durable and easily serviceable bicycle than the fly-by-night ebikes brands that are popping up everywhere,
especially in garages and on the internet. Those new brands are great at advertising, but when
it comes down to who makes a more durable, dependable and more serviceable bicycle, our bikes put
the little inexperienced newbies to shame. So why throw away your money on the
cheap stuff, it will only end up in our landfill.
