Aloha mai Kāua e ka cycling fanatic,
Mahalo to everyone who has supported our store-we have now been open for 30 years! We greatly appreciate all of our clientele for your patience during the last three years of challenging supply chain issues and limited hours (we are still closed on weekends). Our newest challenge has been staffing, which many local businesses have been facing. There has been some turnover here at Hilo Bike Hub over the last year, and hopefully 2023 will bring back some consistency at that front. However, we still have been offering unchallenged quality with our bicycle assemblies and repair department. Please visit us during our current store hours:
Monday thru Friday 9:00 am to 4:30. We are currently closed on weekends and most state holidays.
So whatʻs new? Lots of new bikes and parts. We are currently carrying a full selection of Specialized, Trek and Cannondale mountain bikes, the new electric bikes, as well as comfort bikes and kids bikes. Road bikes have finally arrived, and we have our largest selection in more than 3 years!
What differentiates Hilo Bike Hub from the rest? We understand the ruggedness of the Hawai'i Island terrain, the extreme diversity of our climate and what it does to our bicycles. The end result is building a bicycle that will meet and exceed the needs of our Big Island clientele. For example, all of our adult bikes feature a pro-build assembly complete with waterproof lubrication of front and rear hubs, bottom bracket extraction and waterproof lubrication, as well as waterproof lubrication to all bolts. Full suspension bikes also receive lubrication and proper torque to all pivot bolts and linkage systems. Most bikes require between one and two hours for such an intense assembly, valued at $120. In addition, new bike sales include pro-fitting, adjusting bikes to the rider to maximize comfort as well as performance. New bikes receive one year of free servicing.
It takes a very strong community to stay committed and focused to make it through a pandemic, and our small town of Hilo has done just that! I am so proud of my workforce being diligent and committed to give you our best, in a time of fear and unrest. It has been our Hilo/Puna communities that have kept us together-Mahalo nui loa!

SALES ASSOCIATE (Part-time)
Summary
The Sales Associate is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and product knowledge to help maintain the store’s image and drive sales performance.
Position Details
The primary responsibilities and areas of impact of this position include, but are not limited to:
· Clearly explain and demonstrate products to customers.
· Utilize sales training to achieve a high level of personal sales.
· Apply customer service skills to exceed customers’ expectations.
· Process sales, returns, layaways and void transactions.
· Perform bike fittings for all makes and models.
· Assist in the daily operations of the store, including restocking, cleaning, organizing and merchandising.
· Attend training sessions to enhance product knowledge.
· Learn, understand and adhere to company policy, programs and standards.
· Perform other tasks assigned by management.
Position Requirements
Experience
· Prior sales or customer service experience.
· Should be passionate about cycling as well as promoting the benefits of a cycling lifestyle and culture.
Skills
· Ability to communicate and interact with a diverse population.
· Excellent sales skills and a strong customer service focus.
· Ability to multitask and work with many customers at one time.
· Knowledge of computers and technology.
· Dedication to get the job done.
Working Conditions
· Ability to be mobile on the sales floor for extended periods of time.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs while utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques.

We Did It! Ke Ala o Kūlanihākoʻi Mountain Bike Park is now official!
Hūlō!!! After twenty-five years of trials and tribulations, the Ke Ala o Kūlanihākoʻi (a.k.a. the Kulani Trails) is now an official Hawaiʻi State Nā Ala Hele trail system trail, designed for the mountain bicycling experience!
We are no longer required to carry a user permit while riding these trails. A trail map will soon be made available to download, and get you out to this amazing mountain biking trail system.
Big thanks to the members of the Big Island Mountain Bike Association (BIMBA), Jackson Bauer from Hawaiʻi state Nā Ala Hele trail system, the Hawaiʻi Island Nā Ala Hele trail council (voted unanimously for this trail system) , Mauna Kea Recreation User’s Group, Chris Graper from the Hawaiʻi State Dept. of Forestry, Dennis Vierra from Nā Ala Hele, and Chris Seymour, who is also on the Nā Ala Hele trail council.
